Why is an estimate at one shop different then the estimate at another? They shouldn't be, but let us tell you why some-times they are.

In the collision repair industry, the insurance companies establish the labor rates, the time allowed for each step of the repair, as well as the price allowed for each part. Accordingly, there is virtually no difference in  prices between collision shops. That's the case whether it's paid by an insurance company or the customer. Differences in estimates are generally from one shop doing a more complete job than another shop, not a difference in the price for what is being done.

Another  difference is in using new parts versus used parts. If it's a case when the customer is paying for the repair (rather than it being an insurance claim), the customer may desire a less expensive used part over a new part in order to save money.
